Chicago Rush Set to Retire Head Coach Bob McMillen's Jersey

CHICAGO (April 29, 2011) - The Chicago Rush are set for a historic moment as the team will retire Head Coach Bob McMillen's jersey in a ceremony at halftime during Saturday's game against the New Orleans VooDoo.
The former #44 played fullback/linebacker in the AFL for 13 seasons after earning All-American distinctions in football during three of his four collegiate seasons. His jersey will be the first-ever retired by the Chicago Rush franchise.
Selected as one of the 20 Greatest Players in AFL history, McMillen played the last five years of his 13 season career with the Rush. While wearing Rush blue, McMillen became one of the most popular players in team history, helping lead Chicago to the 2006 ArenaBowl XX Championship.
During his time on the field, he rewrote the Rush record book, setting single game, season and career records for rushing attempts, yards and touchdowns. Overall, he finished his playing career second on the AFL's all-time leading rushing list with 1,508 yards and fifth all-time in rushing touchdowns with a total of 85.
When McMillen retired from playing in 2007 he immediately took to the sidelines and joined the Rush coaching staff as the fullback/linebackers coach. In the 2009 season, he added assistant head coach to his resume. McMillen was ultimately named head coach of the Rush prior to the start of the 2011 season.
In honor of McMillen's jersey retirement, the first 3,000 fans will take home a Bob McMillen bobblehead provided by Dodge and Ram Trucks. Saturday's game will be broadcast on CLTV beginning at 7 p.m.
