March 28, 2007 - Continental Basketball Association 1 (CBA 1) News Release
ALBANY, NY (March 28, 2007) - The Continental Basketball Association announced today that Great Falls Explorers forward Travis Garrison has been named the CBA Rookie of the Year for the 2006-07 season, as voted on by the seven CBA head coaches.
Garrison, a 2006 alum of the University of Maryland, finished the season averaging 11.9 points and 6.1 rebounds for the Explorers this season. The 6-8 forward shot 51.7% from the field and 80.8 % from the line as the Explorers finished with a 24-24 record, good for second place in the National Conference.
Garrison was drafted in the third round (25th overall) of the 2006 CBA College Draft by the Atlanta Krunk Wolverines, but was declared a free agent when the Krunk Wolverines decided not to play in the 2006-07 season. Garrison was one of six CBA draft picks to appear in games this season.
Kevin Pittsnogle, F, Pittsburgh
Finished second in voting for the Rookie of the Year after completing the regular season with an average of 19.4 points and 6.4 rebounds for the expansion Xplosion franchise. Pittsnogle was the sixth overall pick of the Xplosion. He was a member of the 2007 CBA American Conference All-Star team but did not play due to injury.
Gordan Klaiber, F, Albany
Came to the Patroons as an undrafted rookie free agent and stuck with the American Conference Champions all season. Averaged 7.9 points and 3.4 rebounds in 37 games for Albany. Shot a respectable 48.2 from the field in his rookie campaign.
Will Caudle, C, Indiana
The undrafted product from Xavier averaged 10.3 points and 4.1 rebounds a game for the Alleycats. Caudle did not hit the "rookie wall" this season as he appeared in all 48 games for Indiana. Caudle exploded for 40 points against Minot in his high scoring game for the season.
Joe Forte, G, Yakama
The Southern Mississippi product was a valuable commodity off the bench for the Sun Kings. Forte averaged 8.8 points and 3.3 rebounds a game for the Sun Kings. Forte was a steady force as a rookie, showing poise beyond his years in the pros.
