Statement from Fever ownership on Coach Beverlin and QB, Scott Mitchell

Tri-Cities Fever News Release
Kennewick, WA- The Fever ownership would like to make a statement regarding the publicity that has surrounded the resignation of Coach Beverlin and Scott MitchellÂ’s decision to quit the team.
Out of respect for Coach Beverlin and Scott Mitchell we have chosen not to air the details behind the happenings of this week. This is a professional organization and we do not want to engage in name-calling or accusations. We are disappointed that Beverlin and Mitchell have chosen to make the comments that they have.
It is our desire to have a Head Coach that the players and the ownership are comfortable with. It has been the ownershipÂ’s hope that they could give the Head Coach full authority to make all decisions concerning the team. Unfortunately a series of situations were brought to the ownershipÂ’s attention and with a heavy heart they felt that they had no choice but to step in.
The Tri-Cities Fever owes it to the fans and sponsors that have supported them to make sure that they not only field a team, but also field the best team possible. The chance that of that not happening came very close to reality this week.
Scott Mitchell was told what led to the decision and was given the opportunity to continue to play with the team. We are disappointed that he doesnÂ’t feel that he can be part of the team without Coach Beverlin
We regret that the Head Coach for Wyoming heard a rumor and then informed a local radio station. We feel that was unprofessional and not the way in which the Tri-Cities should have heard.
The Fever would like to clear up any speculation about a trade for Bryan Meier, wide receiver, having anything to do with the decision. Bryan Meier was given a release and left the Tri-Cities with the best wishes of the ownership. It in no way had any bearing on the decision.
We have a team full of talent, both local and veterans. We would hope that the community would continue to support Jeremy Bohannon, Ron Childs, Josh Jelmberg, Josh Jelinek, Jason Cobb, Tyler Thomas and the rest of the Fever team and coaching staff.
We would like to conclude by saying that we feel that Coach Beverlin is a good person and he has had a very successful coaching career at Kamiakin High School. We respect him for that and wish him the best. It is now time to put this behind us so the team can move forward and focus on their next game.
