March 23, 2005 - SPHL (SPHL) News Release

[Asheville, N.C.] – The Southern Professional Hockey League (SPHL) announced today that Fayetteville FireAntz goaltender, Chad Collins, has won the Goalie of the Year award for the league. In addition, the netminder was named yesterday to the league all-star team.

Voting for the award was done by coaches, general managers, and beat writers of all eight teams in the SPHL. Collins defeated Matt Carmichael of the Huntsville Havoc.

Collins led the SPHL in save percentage (.922), goals against average (2.48), and shutouts (4.) He was also named Sherwood's Player of the Week in the SPHL twice (November 11th and February 2nd.) The FireAntz allowed the fewest goals in the SPHL (158.)

"It's great to be recognized by the league." Collins said, "All the guys on our team have been committed all season long and this award is a testament to my teammates, coaching staff, and management."
