CBA Announces All-League Teams

Boise, Idaho (April 1, 2002)— The Continental Basketball Association announced the All-League First and Second teams today as selected by CBA head coaches. To be eligible for recognition players must have played in at least half of their team's 2001-02 games and must be in good standing with the CBA. Team members are listed below in order of votes received, beginning with the most.

FIRST TEAM

MILES SIMON, Dakota Wizards – G, 6-4, 205 (Arizona '98) – 2001-02 Season: Earned Most Valuable Player award, Newcomer of the Year award and four Player of the Week awards....Was the leading vote getter on the All-Star Team....Led the CBA in free throw percentage (190-207, .918) and three-point field goal percentage (63-136, .463)....Ranked second in scoring (23 ppg) and eighth in field goal percentage (310-602, .515)....On Feb. 5, 2002 he set a CBA record with his 60th consecutive free throw, previously set in 1984 by Robert Smith of the Toronto Tornados with 56.

SEAN COLSON, Grand Rapids Hoops – G, 6-0, 175 (North Carolina- Charlotte '98) – 2001-02 Season: Earned two Player of the Week awards and named to the All-Star Team...Led the CBA in scoring (23.7 ppg), assists (7.9 apg) and ranked second in free throw percentage (190-207, .918)....Posted a CBA season high 56 points versus Gary on March 24 (11th in CBA history) and a season high 19 assists versus Sioux Falls on Jan. 19. 2000-01 Season: Won two Player of the Week awards and was named to the All-Star Team....Ranked second in scoring (22 ppg), second in assists (7.6 apg), fifth in free throw percentage (.850) and 10th in double-doubles ()....Called up to the NBA twice with Houston and Atlanta. 1999-2000 Season: Won one Player of the Week award....Ranked 17th in scoring (15 ppg), fourth in assists (5.7 apg) and third in free throw percentage (.888). 1998-99 Season: Ranked sixth in assists (5.4 apg) and first in free throw percentage (.932).

JEFF SANDERS, Rockford Lightning – F, 6-9, 265 (Georgia Southern '89) – 2001-02 Season: Earned four Player of the Week awards and named to All-Star Team....Led the CBA in double-doubles (28), ranked sixth in scoring (18.4 ppg), third in rebounds (10 rpg), seventh in offensive rebounds (2.6 orpg), third in field goal percentage (435-817, .532). 1991-92 Season: Named to the All-Star team with Albany....Ranked 13th in scoring (20.1 ppg) and 10th in Rebounding (9.2) for Fort Wayne....Called up to the NBA by Atlanta. 1990-91 Season: Ranked eight in field goal percentage (236-423, .558) with Albany...Called up to the NBA by Charlotte.

RUBEN NEMBHARD, Fargo-Moorhead Beez – G, 6-3, 205 (Weber State '96) – 2001-02 Season: Earned three Player of the Week awards and named to the All-Star Team....Ranked third in scoring (22.1 ppg), assists (6.6 apg) and steals (2.4 spg). 1998-99 Season: Ranked seventh in assists (5.2 apg) with Rockford. 1996-97 Season: Earned one Player of the Week award with Yakima....Ranked seventh in scoring (18.4 ppg) and fifth in steals (2.0 spg)....Called up to the NBA by Utah.

JAMES COLLINS, Grand Rapids Hoops – G, 6-4, 196 (Florida State '97) – 2001-02 Season: Received one Player of the Week Award and named to the All-Star Team....Ranked fourth in scoring (20.6 ppg) and eighth in three-point field goal percentage (74-198, .374). 1998-99 Season: Earned two Player of the Week awards with Quad City....Ranked seventh in scoring (16.2 ppg) and steals (1.8 spg).

SECOND TEAM

TERQUIN MOTT, Grand Rapids Hoops – F, 6-8, 245 (Coppin State '97) – 2001-02 Season: Named to the All-Star Team....Ranked eight in scoring (17.9 ppg), second in rebounds (10 rpg), sixth in offensive rebounds (2.7 orpg) and second in double-doubles (24). 1998-99 Season: 1999 All-League Second Team Member with La Crosse....Ranked 10th in scoring (15.5 ppg). 1997-98 Season: Earned one Player of the Week award with La Crosse.

LEON SMITH, Gary Steelheads – C, 6-10, 250 (King High School- Chicago '99) – 2001-02 Season: Earned one Player of the Week award and named to the All-Star Team....Averaged 16.8 points and 15.2 rebounds in 24 games with Gary and 4 with Sioux Falls....Ranked third with 21 double-doubles....Posted a CBA season high 30 rebounds versus Sioux Falls on Dec. 12, 2001, the fourth highest total in CBA history....Called up to the NBA twice by Atlanta and signed for the remainder of the NBA season.

WILLIE MURDAUGH, Saskatchewan Hawks – G, 6-3, 195 (South Carolina- Spartanburg '92) – 2001-02 Season: Earned Defensive Player of the Year award and named to the All-Defensive Team...Ranked fifth in scoring (18.7 ppg), fourth in assists (6.1 apg), second in steals (2.5 spg) and second in three-point field goal percentage (79-173, .457). 1998-99 Season: Ranked ninth in three-point field goal percentage (.058) with Idaho.

RANDY LIVINGSTON, Sioux Falls Skyforce – G, 6-3, 202 (Louisiana State '93) 2001-02 Season: Named to the All-Star Team....Averaged 11.1 points and 7.2 assists in 29 games with Sioux Falls and 7 with Gary....Called up to the NBA by Seattle and signed for the remainder of the NBA season. 2000-01 Season: Named to the All-Star Team with Idaho....Ranked fifth in assists (7.3 apg), fifth in steals (2.2 spg) and third in free throw percentage (.862). 1998-1999 Season: Named to All-League Second Team and earned one Player of the Week award with Sioux Falls....Ranked 18th in scoring (13.7 ppg), second in assists (6.5 apg), sixth in steals (1.8 spg) and 10th in free throw percentage (.805)....Called up to the NBA by Miami. 1997-98 Season: Ranked 15th in scoring (15.1), fourth in assists (6.7) and third in steals (2.1) with Sioux Falls....Called up to the NBA by Atlanta.

ANTONIO SMITH, Grand Rapids Hoops – F, 6-8, 235 (Michigan State '99) – 2001-02 Season: Named to the All-Defensive Team....Led the CBA in rebounds (11.4 rpg) and offensive rebounds (3.4 orpg), and ranked fifth in double-doubles (18). 2000-01 Season: Ranked second in rebounds (10.1 rpg).
