FC Tulsa News Release
TULSA - The 918 Cerveza, a brewing collaboration between Cabin Boys Brewery and FC Tulsa, has been a part of the Tulsa community for over a year now. The Mexican-style lager was canned and placed in grocery stores, liquor stores, and restaurants across the Tulsa area last March, and both FC Tulsa and Cabin Boys Brewery are excited to announce that the 918 Cerveza has made its way into more than 60 QuikTrip locations across Tulsa.
"When we first brewed the 918 Cerveza, we wanted to not only create a beer that pairs perfectly with pro soccer, but to also create a beer that focused on our growing city," said Lisa McIlroy, Art Director/President of Cabin Boys Brewery. "FC Tulsa's slogan is 'For Tulsa,' and ours is 'Crafted for Community,' so why not center this beer around crafting community for Tulsa?"
As the name suggests, the 918 Cerveza was brewed for Tulsans to bring not only soccer fans together, but any group of Tulsans together from any walk of life to have a beer. Brewed with flaked corn and American barley, the 918 Cerveza is a light beer with hints of tortilla and citrus, making for the perfect summer beer to sip on while enduring the Oklahoma heat.
"It's light, crisp, and approachable to reach a diverse audience, but it's also complexly made, showcasing our brewer's talents," said McIlroy. "The colorful illustration of our state's bird is not only eye-catching, but represents our emerging culture as it takes flight."
Headquartered in Tulsa, QuikTrip has 50 locations in metro Tulsa alone and is valued at over $11 billion, boasting stores in more than 14 states.
"We are excited to have this brand be showcased in other prominent local businesses, such as QuikTrip, because it helps boost the local economy as well as reach more and more Tulsans," said McIlroy.
"We have been so fortunate to have an incredible partnership with Cabin Boys, not just because it aligns FC Tulsa with a great local craft brewery, but also because they are just as committed to community as we are," said Richard McCutchen, Director of Corporate Partnerships for FC Tulsa. "Now thanks to QuikTrip, we can showcase our collaboration in over 60 stores and get the 918 Cerveza into the hands of other local Tulsans who love supporting great craft beer and professional soccer."
