December 17, 2021 - United Soccer League One (USL1)
FC Tucson News Release
Defenses win championships and as FC Tucson look for silverware in 2022, it made signing Kaelon Fox a priority.
The club's reigning Player of the Year returns to Southern Arizona looking to build upon last season.
"In 2021, we set the standard for the club going forward and that was at minimum making the playoffs," said Fox. "Me, the rest of the returners, and the new guys coming in will look to keep that standard and continue to grow as a club."
The 26-year-old from Louisville, Kentucky, captained the team from the backline, guiding the team to fourth - its highest finish in USL League One history.
During his first season with the club, Fox played in 26 of the team's 30 games, logging 2,370 minutes, making 103 clearances, 31 interceptions, 19 blocks and won 89 of his duels. He was named the team's most valuable player.
"Kaelon is someone who has great leadership qualities and a great work ethic," said head coach Jon Pearlman. "He was a center piece for us last year, and he's looking to continue being that moving forward."
Fox will be spending the off season in his hometown of Louisville, Kentucky with his family.
"A lot of golf being played no doubt," said Fox. "It will be nice to relax for a bit before returning quickly to Tucson!"
Fox signed for FC Tucson ahead of the 2021 season after playing two seasons in the Icelandic football league system. He made his league debut with FC Tucson coming on as a substitute on May 1, 2021 against South Georgia Tormenta FC. He made his first start for the club in a 2-1 win over Toronto FC II on May 26.
