Week Five Headlines:

Outlaws Overpower The Competition:

The defending champion Denver Outlaws played their best lacrosse of the season this weekend, beating the Rattlers at home on Thursday before beating the Boston Cannons Saturday on the road.

On Thursday, the Outlaws defense suffocated the Rattlers in the final three quarters allowing Denver to outscore their opponents 10-2 over the game's final 45 minutes. John Grant Jr. scored four goals, including a remarkable through the legs goal. The goal appeared on SportsCenter's Top 10 plays of the day on Friday. Brendan Kavanagh also added four goals on the night.

On Saturday, the Outlaws headed to Boston to take on the Cannons in a matchup of the league's two best teams. The game didn't disappoint as the Outlaws beat the Cannons 17-16 in an action packed affair at Veterans Memorial Stadium. Ryan Lee led the Outlaws with four goals while Kavanagh and Chris Aslanian scored three goals apiece.

Max Adler was superb in the face-off circle this weekend going 36-62 (58%) in the Outlaws two wins, including winning 21 of 37 draws against the Cannons on Saturday.

Blaze Spoil Bayhawks Home Opener:

The Chesapeake Bayhawks and Atlanta Blaze took the field in front of a raucous crowd in Annapolis for the Bayhawks home opener. Unfortunately, the home faithful wouldn't have much to cheer about as the Atlanta Blaze spoiled the party in a 19-10 win. The Blaze separated themselves from the Bayhawks with a dominant second and third quarter which saw Atlanta outscore Chesapeake 11-1.

Shayne Jackson continued his sensational start to the season finding the back of the net five times. Jackson is up to 15 goals on the season.

Goalie Chris Madalon was dominant once more turning away 19 Bayhawks shots.

Lizards Get In the Win Column:

The Lizards and Rattlers played the final game of the weekend Saturday night on Long Island. The Lizards finally got in the win column beating the Rattlers 13-9.

Dylan Molloy and Rob Pannell paced the Lizards again combining for five goals. Ryan Walsh also registered a hat trick for the Lizards.

Greg Puskuldjian came into the game leading the league with a face-off percentage of 61% and continued his fine play winning 13 of 21 draws against Blake Boudreau and the Rattlers.

Looking Ahead:

Week Six begins with the Chesapeake Bayhawks traveling to Denver to take on the Outlaws in their annual July 4th game. The game is annually the most attended professional lacrosse game of the year.
