
2017 United Shore Professional Baseball League Open Tryout
November 18, 2016 - United Shore Professional Baseball League (USPBL) News Release
ROCHESTER, Mich. - November 16, 2016 - The United Shore Professional Baseball League will embark on its second season in 2017 following a very successful 2016 campaign. To date, eight (8) USPBL players from the league's inaugural season in 2016 have had their contracts purchased by Major League organizations and five (5) USPBL players were named to Baseball America's top prospects for Independent baseball.
The USPBL will be holding tryouts for our 2017 season at Jimmy John's Field, located in Utica, Michigan, on April 27-29, 2017. Tryout participants will be evaluated by all USPBL Managers and staff. In 2016, the USPBL signed over 30 players from the open tryouts.
Tryout evaluations will include:
60 yard dash time (position players).
Catcher pop time.
Pitcher velocity.
Batting practice (position players).
Simulated games.
The USPBL's 2017 baseball season will begin on May 11 and conclude on September 10, 2017. The USPBL offers customized programs to help accelerate player development, which include:
USPBL & DVS throwing program that allowed for 1200+ innings pitched without an injury.
Our USPBL pitching staff averaged an increase of 1.4 MPH during the 2016 season.
Customized hitting programs including BATS video breakdown.
Players must be at least eighteen years old (18), born on or after January 1, 1991, and they must be a United States Citizen or be approved for work in the United States. No player may have attained the age of twenty six (26) prior to January 1, 2017. Please note that players with college eligibility remaining should check with their school compliance office before registering.
