San Jose SaberCats News Release
SAN JOSE, Calif. - The San Jose SaberCats free agent frenzy continued on Friday, as the team announced the assignment of 2013 Wide Receiver of the Year Adron Tennell.
"Tennell has proven to be a top player in this league," said Owner and Head Coach Darren Arbet. "His athleticism, desire to win and strong relationship with [quarterback] Erik Meyer makes him a great fit for our organization."
Tennell (6-5, 215, Oklahoma) is a four-year Arena Football League veteran, having played his entire career with the Spokane Shock. In an injury shortened season in 2014, he caught 58 passes for 574 yards and ten touchdowns. In 2013, Tennell - on the receiving end of Meyer's MVP season - earned WR of the Year and First-Team All-Arena honors, recording 156 catches for 1,792 yards and a Shock franchise record of 49 touchdown receptions. In 2012, he posted his first breakout season, setting Spokane records of 157 receptions, 1,810 yards, 40 touchdowns and 240 points scored. As a rookie with the Shock in 2011, Tennell caught 42 passes for 469 yards and 13 scores.
Playing four years of college football for the Oklahoma Sooners, Tennell hauled in 40 passes for 505 yards and five touchdowns over the course of his college career.
