Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Yankees News Release

Moosic, PA - Six different venues will host Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Yankees games in 2012 while the Yankees permanent home at PNC Field in Moosic, Pennsylvania undergoes a massive 40 million dollar reconstruction project during the upcoming baseball season. The Yankees will play 37 games at Frontier Field in Rochester, New York, 10 games at Alliance Bank Stadium in Syracuse, New York, eight games at Coca-Cola Park in Allentown, Pennsylvania, seven games at Dwyer Stadium in Batavia, New York, six games at Coca-Cola Field in Buffalo, New York and four games at McCoy Stadium in Pawtucket, Rhode Island.

Scranton/Wilkes-Barre will open the 2012 season with nine games on the road before opening the "home" schedule up against the Syracuse Chiefs with a pair of games at Alliance Bank Stadium in Syracuse on Saturday, April 14th at 4:00 PM and a Sunday afternoon game at 2:00 PM. The Yankees will open the 2012 season at Coca-Cola Park in Allentown for the second consecutive season against the defending IL North champion Lehigh Valley Iron Pigs with a pair of 7:05 PM games on Thursday, April 5th and Friday, April 6th. The opening road trip will continue for SWB with four games at Syracuse (April 7-10) and three at Buffalo (April 11-13) before the "home" opener against the Chiefs.

"The start of a new baseball season is always an exciting time," said Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Yankees President Kristen Rose. "The 2012 season will be challenging for our players and our fans due to the reconstruction of PNC Field. We want to thank all of our fans for their understanding during the 2012 season and look forward to a state of the art facility that will be ready for baseball on opening day 2013."

Rivalry games fill a big portion of the 2012 schedule as Scranton/Wilkes-Barre will play a total of 24 games against three of the Yankees biggest rivals. The Lehigh Valley IronPigs, the Philadelphia Phillies triple-A affiliate, ended the Yankees run of three consecutive IL North Division titles in 2011 with a first place finish as the Pigs made it to the Governors' Cup Finals before losing to Columbus. The Yankees will be the "home" team on three different occasions at Coca-Cola Park in Allentown: April 26th-29th, July 5th-6th and August 29th-30th.

Scranton Wilkes-Barre will host the Pawtucket Red Sox in a pair of games at Dwyer Stadium in Batavia on May 5th and 6th and then will play a pair of games vs. the Paw Sox at Frontier Field in Rochester on July 30th and 31st. The final "home" series for SWB against the Red Sox will be played at McCoy Stadium in Pawtucket on August 14th-17th.

The New York Mets top affiliate, the Buffalo Bisons and the Yankees will play triple-A's version of the "Subway Series" with a four game series at Coca-Cola Field in Buffalo on May 24th-27th, a two game series at Alliance Bank Stadium in Syracuse on July 7th and 8th and the final two "home" games for the Yankees against the Bisons in Buffalo on August 20th and 21st.

During the rebuilding of PNC Field, the SWB Yankees will provide fans more detailed information as the reconstruction process begins and continues throughout 2012. Current season ticket holders, corporate sponsors and suite holders will be given first priority when the team unveils season ticket and sponsorship opportunities for the reconstructed stadium once they become available.
