SAINT PAUL, Minn. - The National Lacrosse League (NLL) has announced that the 2012 NLL Entry Draft will take place on Monday, Oct. 1 in Toronto at the Westin Harbour Castle. The draft starts at 6 p.m. CT and will be broadcast live on The NLL Network at NLL.com.

The Minnesota Swarm currently hold a league-high four first-round draft picks and will make three consecutive selections with picks No. 2, 3 and 4. The Swarm will also make the final selection in the first-round with the No. 10 pick.

"We're definitely most excited about the talent pool that we're looking at," Swarm associate general manager & head coach Joe Sullivan said. "Secondly, we have to take a look at the great opportunities in front of us with the second, third and fourth overall picks... and the 10th pick as well. There have been lots of years where the 10th overall pick is a guy who comes into your lineup and contributes. We have the opportunity now to really address any weaknesses that we've seen over the last couple of years and go ahead and address that at the draft with our first-round picks."

Last season, the Swarm advanced to the West Division Finals for the first time in team history after finishing the regular season 9-7. In total, a league-high 12 rookies saw floor time for the Swarm in 2012, which included last year's first-round picks T Jordan MacIntosh (No. 4) and G Evan Kirk (No. 6). Both MacIntosh and Kirk went on to collect NLL All-Rookie Team honors last season.

In conjunction with the draft, a player combine for draft prospects and free agents will be held on Sunday, Sept. 30 at the new Toronto Rock Headquarters & Training Facility in Oakville, Ontario.

"The combine is going to allow us a look at the kids that we've watched and scouted all summer long, whether that be prospects from the East, West or NCAA," Sullivan said. "These kids will be out there and we'll put them through the paces to better understand if they truly are ready."

Information regarding player participation and eligibility for the combine will be announced in the coming days. The 2012 NLL Draft Eligibility Requirements can be found by visiting NLL.com. The current 2012 NLL Entry Draft order is subject to change pending trades of selections among the clubs.
