
2008 ArenaCup matchup set; Spokane to host af2 championship event

CHICAGO, IL - The 2008 ArenaCup matchup is officially set as the American Conference Champion Tennessee Valley Vipers will face the National Conference Champion Spokane Shock. The af2's title game is scheduled for Monday, Aug. 25 at 10:00 p.m. ET at Spokane Arena in Spokane, Wash. Spokane earned the right to host the championship event based on the Shock having the better overall record of the two participating teams in 2008.
Tennessee Valley (13-6) won the American Conference Championship with a 45-35 home triumph over Manchester (11-8). The Vipers, which earned their second trip to the ArenaCup in team history, was led by WR Alonzo Nix who caught 10 passes for 197 yards with three touchdowns. Nix's 197 yards receiving was the second-highest single-game total in af2 postseason history.
Spokane (18-1) claimed the National Conference Championship with a 79-49 home victory over Amarillo (10-8). The Shock, who earned their second trip to the ArenaCup in the team's three-year history, were led by QB Nick Davila. Davila accounted for eight total touchdowns (7 - passing, 1 - rushing) while WR Raul Vijil (3 TD catches) and FB Kyle Young (2 rushing TDs) also contributed in the win.
