1B Davidson (ATL), LHP Holmes (LAD) Named Arizona Fall League Players of the Week

Scottsdale, Arizona - Peoria Javelinas first baseman Braxton Davidson (Braves) and Glendale Solar Sox left-handed starting pitcher Ben Holmes (Dodgers) are the Fall League's week four players of the week.
Davidson - The Braves' 22-year-old power-hitting first-base prospect clubbed four homers last week on back-to-back two-homer games to assume the league home-run lead with five long balls as the first-place Javelinas increased their West Division lead to seven games.
He batted .438 for the week and led the Fall League in hits (7) and homers (4) and ranked third in RBI (7). He also tallied 5 runs, 1 double, 20 total bases and 5 extra-base hits.
Through four weeks of play, the 6-2, 230-pound Asheville, NC native was hitting .250 with 1 double, 5 homers, 11 RBI and 27 total bases. In addition to his home-run lead, he also ranked third in slugging percentage (.614).
The Braves' first-round (32nd overall) draft choice in 2014, Davidson has belted 47 homers in five minor-league seasons, including 20 at High-A Florida in 2018.
Holmes - In his lone start last week, the 6-1, 195-pound lefty allowed no runs over five innings, allowing only one hit while striking out six.
He emerged from the fourth week of play as the league's co-leader in strikeouts (23) with MLB.com's No. 1 pitching prospect, Scottsdale's Forrest Whitley (Astros). Holmes also was tied with four other hurlers in starts (5) and ranked second in innings pitched (19.2).
For the AFL season, Holmes, 27, was 1-1 with a 2.29 ERA.
Signed by the Dodgers as a free agent in July 2018, the Clackamas, OR product was a member of Double-A Texas League champion Tulsa, going 2-2 with a 2.82 ERA in six starts for the Drillers.
The former Oregon State star, who led the NCAA with a 2.25 ERA in 2014, originally was drafted by Miami in the ninth round (257th overall) in 2014.
