Phoenix Rising FC News Release
PHOENIX - Phoenix Rising Football Club announced today that midfielder Devin Vega would return for the 2019 season. Per club policy, the details of the contract will not be made public.
Vega officially signed with the club on December 13, 2017, and played 690 minutes in 12 appearances last season. The Texas native scored twice, including a goal against his former team San Antonio FC, and notched an assist in 2018. Vega was an unused sub in each of Rising's USL Cup playoff games.
"I am beyond blessed with the opportunity to play for Phoenix Rising in 2019. I can't wait to get back to work with my teammates and coaches. Our goal is to bring back the cup we deserved last season to the fans in 2019."
Vega signed his first professional contract with San Antonio FC in January 2017 and made his professional debut as a substitute on April 7. Prior to his professional career, Vega played at the FC Dallas Academy, scoring 14 goals in 39 official academy matches and helping his team win the 2016 U17/18 national championship.
Vega also has international experience. He played with the U17 U.S. National Team alongside U.S. international Christian Pulisic and helped the squad win the 2014 Aegean Cup in Turkey. He also appeared with the U19 U.S. National Team in October 2916.
Vega becomes the sixth player officially announced for the 2019 roster.
