
10 Straight Paints Beat REX 6-2 to Extend Streak

CHILLICOTHE, Ohio - The Chillicothe Paints, presented by Adena Health System, beat the REX 6-2 last night in front of nearly 2,700 fans at VA Memorial Stadium, marking their 10th win in a row.
Gavin Homer made a diving stop at second base then threw out a runner to end the top half of the first, ending a scoring chance for the REX (9-10), then he carried that to the plate in the bottom of the first.
After Cody Orr reached to lead off the inning, Homer doubled to left field to score Orr, giving the Paints (12-7) an early 1-0 lead.
Orr hit a two-out, three-run, home run in the second inning, making in 4-0.
Homer hit a solo shot in the fifth, giving the Paints a 5-0 lead.
Joe Laudont walked with the bases loaded to push across another run, giving the Paints a 6-0 lead.
The REX were able to plate two runs in top of the eighth, making it 6-2, which is how the scoring finished.
Taylor Perrett (2-0) started and threw 5 2/3 scoreless innings, surrendering just five hits, walking three and striking out four on the way to his second win of the season.
Mitch Milheim earned his second save of the season after recording the final two outs of the game.
REX starter Blayke Cutts (0-2) allowed four runs on seven hits, walking one and striking out three over four innings.
The Paints head to Terre Haute, Ind., for a game against the REX Saturday night. They'll play in Normall, Ill., Sunday. After games at Champion City Tuesday and Wednesday, the Paints return home Thursday, June 27, for a 6 p.m. doubleheader against Champion City.
