Battle Creek, Mi) The Battle Creek Revolution skated out of Revolution Arena with a hard fought victory that saw a game with 14 goals and 5 fights against the West Michigan Blizzard. The Rev's skated to an 8-6 win in front of one of the biggest crowds of the year in Revolution Arena. The game was highlighted with many hard hits and great fights that kept the crowd on their feet all night long with the most exciting game all season long.
Todd Mcllrath got the party started at 11:10 in the first period with a goal on a pretty shot with Charles Harvey and Rob Schweyer getting the assists on the goal. Then just under two minutes later Mcllrath lit the lamp again with Joel Gerbe and Rick Gadwa drawing the helpers. With just over a minute left in the first period, Mcllrath scored the natural hat trick with help from Marco Trevino and Shweyer. The Blizzard got on the board to start the second period when Nigel Hawryliw scored a goal on a crisp pass from Brent Clarke and Pat Doyle drawing the other assist. The Revolution struck back quickly when 007 Ryan Bond used hard work and great skating to score his first professional goal on a Schweyer assist and help from Harvey. Then it was Gerbe time as Joel Gerbe lit the lamp with a goal to make 5 to 1 on the helper was Mcllrath. The Revs then started to pour it on with a Chris Affinati goal with help from Gadwa and Kye Moje. Dan Kohanchuk lit the lamp with help of Shawn McNulty and Mcllrath to make it 7 to 1. The Blizzard got it rolling with Rich Jondo scoring with Clarke and Hawryliw drawing the assists. As they came to the close of the second period, Dan Calitri scored with the help of Jondo and Darrel Levy on the helpers.
The Blizzard started the third, scoring with a goal Darrel Levey with assists from Brad Bohilinger and Calitri to make it 7 to 4. Then all heck broke lose when the roof of Revolution Arena was blown off with five fights in three minutes that saw rematches with Bill Vitale and Chris Affinati scoring another win. Mason Cossette then drilled Emery Louse in a fight that started a war on the ice that saw Kye Moje get in his first professional fight scoring a victory over Darrel Levy. Also it should be noted that Nick Bet destroyed Zach Kane in the first fight of the evening. All of that action fired up the Blizzard bench with Pat Doyle lighting the lamp on a power play goal with help from Hawryliw on the assist. Then on a penalty shot awarded for the ref, Dan Calitri scored his second goal of the night. The Rev's then put the game on ice with an empty net goal from Charles Harvey with help from Schweyer and Matt Wiedenhoeft on his first point of the year.
The Revolution will next be in action in a rematch with the West Michigan Blizzard at the LC Walker with the face off at 5:00pm Sunday evening.
