UFL is on (supposedly)

Post by SignGuyDino »

http://www.uflaccess.com has a thread that said UFL may be on, and they may change to playing next Spring. I think it's too late but we'll see.

Also, http://www.ufl-football.com has a placeholder page up, confirming that most of us suspected that will be the official page.

Let's see if Cuban can pull it off...

Here is an interesting article on the UFL by Peter King.

My wife said there is a UFL office in her office building so we shall see what happens there.

According to that article, the lineup is set to be:

Hartford (will play at Rentschler Field in East Hartford, home of the ever-on-the-rise UConn football team)
Las Vegas (Sam Boyd Stadium)
Los Angeles (we've heard Home Depot Center, hopefully they follow through on that)
New York (surprise surprise-will play at Citi Field in Queens, future home of the New York Mets)
Orlando (Citrus Bowl)
San Francisco (most likely AT&T Park)

Thoughts anyone?

Like the article states I'm very surprised the NY team will play at Citi Field.

Mets fans won't be happy, they better have a great grounds crew.

Hartford might be a good fit that could be a decent rivalry

Las Vegas, Los Angeles, San Francisco and Orlando were all XFL teams, San Francisco had the best fan support.

I hope the heck not. The pitch gets abused already.

Surely, you guys have enough ambition to shoot for MC.

Judging from the latest three posts, the word "premature" comes HIGHLY recommended.

I can't blame the UFL for generating noise, but I suspect the combination of minor league failures and major league economic problems mean that stadium authorities are going to execute some serious pushback here.

I just can't believe, if they are going to still play in the fall, that they want to have two teams in NFL markets.

Going into NY was bad enough, but, any league that wants any sort of TV deal at least thinks it needs a NY team. But to also go to San Fran, during the NFL season is silly.

The idea of going after large, non-NFL markets made sense. This seems to be semi-desperation now.
