Windy City Bulls Hang on for Fourth Straight Win in Grand Rapids

Walker, MI- The Windy City Bulls (5-3), presented by BMO Harris Bank, the official NBA Development League affiliate of the Chicago Bulls, withstood a furious fourth quarter rally to beat the Grand Rapids Drive 119-118 in thrilling fashion on the road in Michigan Friday evening. The win marks the fourth straight for the Bulls.

After trailing by 17 points early in the fourth quarter, the Drive pulled within two points with an opportunity win in the final seconds, but Bulls guard Wesley Saunders came up with a critical steal and backcourt mate Spencer Dinwiddie sealed the win at the free-throw line, putting the Bulls up by four points before the Drive hit a last-second three point shot to close the scoring.

For the second straight game, five Bulls players turned in double-digit scoring performances, led by guard Aaron Thomas who finished with 30 points.

Dinwiddie finished with 25 points to go with six assists while Saunders came off the bench to provide a season high 15 points, seven rebounds and the game-winning steal.

The Bulls frontcourt also saw strong performances by Alec Brown and Alfonzo McKinnie, each of whom reached double-figures with 14 and 10 points, respectively. The 14 points marked a season high for Brown and McKinnie also hauled down a team-high eight rebounds.

The Drive were led in scoring by guard Jordan Crawford who finished with 30 points. Ray McCallum had a strong performance with 29 points, including 18 in the second half.

After trailing at the end of the first quarter 39-34, Windy City outscored the Drive 31-23 to take a 65-62 lead into the locker room at the half.

Saunders scored nine of his 15 points in the third quarter to help Windy City build a double-digit lead. A three-pointer by Thomas with 10:37 remaining in the game gave the Bulls their largest lead, 104-87, before the Drive came storming back.

Windy City will complete a three-game road trip tomorrow night against the Fort Wayne Mad Ants at 6 PM CST.
