
Warriors Late Rally Overcome by Skyforce

SANTA CRUZ, Calif. -The Santa Cruz Warriors (2-3) fell to the Sioux Falls Skyforce (4-1) 100-93 on Friday night in front of a sellout crowd at Kaiser Permanente Arena. This game marks the eleventh consecutive capacity crowd at Kaiser Permanente dating back to the 2015-16 regular season.
Cam Jones led the way for the Warriors with 22 points, 7 assists, and 6 rebounds. Phil Pressey recorded a double-double, finishing with 17 points and 11 assists. Scott Wood contributed with 21 points, going 5-of-9 from beyond the arc.
Jabril Trawick paced the Skyforce with 30 points and 6 rebounds. Keith Benson (23 points, 17 rebounds) and Briante Weber (15 points, 14 rebounds) both recorded double-doubles in the victory over Santa Cruz.
In the opening minutes of the first quarter, the Warriors took an 11-0 lead holding the Skyforce scoreless until the 7:32 minute mark. Sioux Falls would slowly chip away at the Warriors' lead, coming within 5 points to begin the second period.
The Skyforce would go on a 15-3 run to begin the second quarter and limit Santa Cruz's scoring to just 12 points in the entire frame. The opponents would extend their distance from the Warriors to enter the locker room with a 15 point advantage, their largest of the first half.
Santa Cruz emerged from the break to outscore the Skyforce 30-15 in the third quarter and tie up the score 72-72 heading into the final frame. Two made free throws in the first minute of the 4th quarter from Clippers assignee Diamond Stone, gave the Warriors a two-point edge over Sioux Falls. The score would be tied three more times before the Skyforce took back a lead they would not relinquish.
