Vitalii Abramov Named Ultramar Player of the Week

March 27, 2018 - Quebec Maritimes Junior Hockey League (QMJHL) News Release

Boucherville, Que. - The Ultramar Player of the Week is Vitalii Abramov (Tigres | Victoriaville) who accumulated a total of six points consisting of three goals and three assists last week.

The Tigres kicked off their first round of the playoffs with a 7-2 win over the Gatineau Olympiques last Friday. Abramov enjoyed a four-point game in which he scored twice and got just as many assists. In doing so, he set a new personal postseason best by obtaining four points in a match.

The next day, the Russian native scored a goal and collected an assist in a 3-2 victory. With his offensive help, the Tigres now go on the road to play two games in Gatineau and will be looking to remain strong and come back home with a series sweep.

After the first week of the playoffs, Abramov's offensive prowess has remained unchanged. He continuously asserts himself as one of the best players that this league has to offer, currently topping the charts for points in the 2018 QMJHL playoffs. While taking part in 60% of his team's goals last week, the 19-year-old forward's performance was extremely productive, to say the least.

Other players considered for the Ultramar Player of the Week are goaltender Zachary Bouthillier (Saguenéens | Chicoutimi) and forward Alexandre Alain (Armada | Blainville-Boisbriand).

Bouthillier was in front of the net for both of his team's games last week. After suffering a 3-1 loss to the Acadie-Bathurst Titan, he bounced back on Saturday with a 4-0 shutout, stopping all of the 43 shots that came his way. In total, Bouthillier has saved 77 out of a total of 80 shots he's faced in just two games, pushing his save percentage to an impressive .963.

Alain picked up an assist and found the back of the net four times in two games, including scoring both of the game-winning goals in the Armada's triumphs against the Val-d'Or Foreurs last week. One of those goals came in overtime of Game 1. His exploits for last week include scoring a shorthanded goal, as well as scoring the fastest goal at the beginning of a period in franchise history, needing only 10 seconds to find the back of the net.
