Chattahoochee Valley Vipers News Release

Columbus, GA--The Chattahoochee Valley Vipers are helping kids achieve the same success in the classroom as they've achieved on the field.

Valley Viper players will be "Homework Helpers," participating in "Power Hour," study sessions sponsored by JC Penney and the Boys & Girls Club of Columbus and Phenix City. Power Hour is an interactive, after-school homework assistance program for the Boys & Girls Club children aged 6 to 18 years.

Unlike assignments done in class, Power Hour work is conducted in a non-threatening and fun after-school environment using "Homework Helpers," adults or older students who supervise completion of a Club member's homework.

"I'm pleased that my players are in the community and forming positive relationships with the kids," said Valley Vipers' Head Coach/GM Jason Gibson. "It's great that my players have an opportunity of being role models."

Mondays thru Wednesdays, a pair of Valley Vipers will not only provide homework help, they'll also engage in age-appropriate activities to further stimulate Club members' interest in learning. The ultimate goal of Power Hour is to instill in youth a life-long love of learning.

The Valley Vipers open the 2006 season at home on Sunday, February 26th, against the Daytona Beach Thunder. Call 706-256-0628 or go to www.thevalleyvipers.com for ticket information.
