 Trenton Steel News Release
The Trenton Steel Indoor Football Team announced the signing of former Troy (Ala.) University running back Kenny Cattouse. The 5-foot-10, 200-pound Cattouse was one of the top running backs in the Sun Belt Conference during his time with the Trojans, who began competing in the NCAA Division I ranks in 2002. He received a mini-camp invitation from the New England Patriots in 2008 and was also scouted heavily by the New York Giants.
Cattouse drew the NFL teams' attention during his last two seasons at Troy. He rushed for 810 yards and four touchdowns as a junior in 2006 - an average of 4.8 yards a carry - then had a strong all-around campaign as a senior in 2007, rushing for 791 yards and seven touchdowns on 133 carries, an average of 5.9 yards per carry.
His game as a dependable pass receiver out of the backfield also developed in 2007, as he registered 37 receptions for 235 yards and a touchdown. That ability projects Cattouse as a key performer in coach Rod Miller's Steel offense.
The Steel open their inaugural season in the Southern Indoor Football League March 19 at the Richmond Raiders, with their home-opener at 7:05 p.m. March 26 at the Sun National Bank Center in Trenton. Season tickets, which start as low as $60, are available. Information can be obtained by calling the Steel offices at 609-656-3300 or on the team's Web site at www.trentonsteel.com. Single-game tickets are available by phone, at the Sun National Bank Center ticket windows, or on-line at www.comcasttix.com
