BATHURST - Kevin Gursoy scored the only goal for the Saint John Sea Dogs in a 2-1 loss to the Acadie-Bathurst Titan, Thursday at the KC Irving Regional Centre.

Antoine Morand and Domenic Malatesta found the net for Acadie-Bathurst (4-2-2-1), which have won two straight games.

Alex D'Orio was impressive in the Saint John (3-5-1-0) goal with 37 saves in a losing cause. He was named third star.

The Titan scored the lone goal of the first period midway through.

After winning a faceoff in the left circle, Morand went to the front of the net and redirected a Logan Chisholm pass between the legs of D'Orio.

The Sea Dogs carried play for much of the second period, but Acadie-Bathurst scored with only 88 seconds left in the frame.

Justin Ducharme stole the puck in the high slot and fed Malatesta, who slapped a one-timer past a helpless D'Orio.

Saint John got its only goal with five-and-a-half minutes to go in the third.

Nick Deakin-Poot, in his second game as a Sea Dog, carried the puck down the right side and a fed a pass in front to a streaking Gursoy. The rookie winger snapped a quick wrist shot beyond the glove of Titan goalie Reilly Pickard.

D'Orio went to the bench for an extra skater with under two minutes left, but the Sea Dogs could not tie the game.

Pickard was named second star in a 30-save performance. Acadie-Bathurst captain Jeffrey Viel took first star with a +1 rating and eight shots on goal in front of 1,374 fans in attendance.
