Harrisburg Stampede News Release

HARRISBURG, PA (Jun 12, 2014) - The Harrisburg Stampede (3-6) enter the weekend with a disappointing record to start their inaugural season in the PIFL. The silver lining is that they are still in the playoff hunt. The Stampede control their own destiny, and with wins in the next two weeks, can position themselves to grab the final playoff spot in the National Conference.

The Stampede lost a heartbreaker last week to the first place Trenton Freedom, and look to try and bounce back versus a Richmond team that has come on strong in recent weeks. In a 2nd half shootout, the Stampede offense played well in a loss, but wasn't able to convert a TD in the final seconds last week to tie the game. They will look to carry that offensive momentum created into this important matchup.

The Raiders pulled off an impressive 4th quarter rally last week to defeat the Lehigh Valley Steelhawks 38-37. The Raiders ran off 22 unanswered points in the final eighteen minutes of the game to defeat the Steelhawks, and move into a share of 2nd place in the National Conference.

Matchup to Watch :

Harrisburg Stampede Offensive Line played well last week versus Trenton. A group that consisted of three new starters kept QB E.J. Nemeth upright, and protected him well against a stout defensive line. In the previous matchup with the Raiders, Nemeth was pressured constantly, disrupting the offensive rhythm.

Richmond Raiders DE Devin Jones has been a disruptive force on the defensive side of the ball all season. He leads the PIFL in sacks (12.5) and tackles for loss (17).

The Raiders and Stampede are playing for a share of 2nd place in the National Conference, and the final playoff spot. The winner will hold the head-to-head tie breaker.

Kickoff is set for 4:00pm EST from PinnacleHealth Field at Giant Center.
