Spokane Empire News Release
SPOKANE, Washington- The Empire has signed wide receiver Orlandus Harris to their 2017 IFL roster.
Harris (WR, 6-1, 200, Eastern Kentucky) joins the Empire for his first season as a member of the IFL. Last season with the Bloomington Edge of the CIF, Orlandus ranked fourth in the league in receptions (70), receiving yards (830), and eight in receiving touchdowns (18). On special teams, he returned 19 kickoffs for 492 yards and three touchdowns. He also played with the Edge in 2015 while they were a part of the XIFL.
"Orlandus possesses the ability to stretch the field vertically and is very good in the open field at making guys miss," said Empire Head Coach Adam Shackleford. "After playing the last two years in Bloomington and gaining valuable experience indoors, we're looking forward to seeing him compete in training camp with us in 2017."
During his two active collegiate seasons at Eastern Kentucky as a sophomore and junior, Orlandus saw action in 20 games and recorded 90 receptions for 1,378 yards and eight touchdowns. He also added 21 kick returns for 408 yards (25.6 yards per return). Harris received 2010 All-OVC second team honors after being ranked second in the Ohio Valley Conference in receiving yards (940) and third in receptions (56). He suffered a season-ending knee injury during the spring of 2011 before his senior season which would lead to him transferring and playing his final collegiate season at Glenville State College (WV). Orlandus played his prep career at Brainerd High School in Chattanooga, Tennessee.
