HOFFMAN ESTATES, IL - It was all about the win today for the Chicago Slaughter, who beat the Bloomington Edge 50-34, but it was also all about the new direction that the re energized franchise is taking.

"I've played for many different teams" said quarterback Perry Patterson, "but I can say that without a doubt this is the best run organization I've ever seen. You can see the enthusiasm throughout, from the front office to the players. Everybody wants to win and they know how to get things done. From my point of view, it just doesn't get any better than that."

Patterson and Juice Williams alternated behind center in a system the players had been working on during training camp.

"It was very comfortable for us on the offense" said WR Daniel Dufrene who finished the game with three touchdowns. "We were familiar with the way each of our quarterbacks played and were able to adjust accordingly no matter who was on the field."

Leading the Slaughter in rushing wasDufrene with37 yards, Romandre Gibbs with 29 yards, Patterson with 19, and Juice Williams with 16.

Patterson had24 passes with 16 completions for 154 yards. Williams notched 2 completions on7 attempts for 27 yards. Tony Taylor led in receiving with5 grabs for60 yards. Ernest Jackson had9 catches for98 yards and Troy Pasclay had 3 catches for 17 yards. The Slaughter had74 total plays on offense for455 yards.

The Slaughter defense had an interception, three forced fumbles, and were able to keep a driving Edge offense just short of the goal line throughout the game."

"It was a good start, an all around good day for us." said DL Brandon Jordan after the game. "We needed to shut down the red zone and put pressure throughout."

While Jordan was pleased with the game's outcome, he tempered his enthusiasm with a dose of reality.

"There were still some mistakes made and things showed that we'll have to be working on during the next week of practice, but it was a good start for us, a strong start. Momentum is everything in football and you want to begin any season on a positive note. That is what we accomplished today."

Although Head Coach Steve McMichael was pleased with the victory, he wanted to be certain that his players understood that winning one week doesn't mean automatic success from here on out.

"It's exactly what I expected out of this team to win this game like this" McMichael said. "I want to impress upon the players that this is how we should play every game this year. You can't be fired up for the first game then relax and have the rest of the season be a downer. That is not how you win. If they understand that, then we can win and we will win."

The Chicago Slaughter, a member of the professional Indoor Football League, returns to action at home at the Sears Centre Arena in Hoffman Estates on February 24, 2012 against the Lehigh Valley Steelhawks. For more information or to reserve your tickets call 847-310-3190 or go towww.chicagoslaughter.com .
