Sioux Falls, SD - The Sioux Falls Skyforce announced today that they have acquired forward Markeith Cummings. The Skyforce have the returning player rights of Cummings, who most recently played for the Skyforce during the 2014-15 season.
Cummings, a 6-6, 230-pound forward averaged 5.6 points and 1.9 rebounds in eight regular season games for the Skyforce in 2015, and appeared in three playoff games in which he averaged 4.3 points and 1.3 rebounds per game.
Earlier this year, Cummings averaged 12.6 points, 5.1 rebounds and 3.3 assists per game in seven games with Al Ahly Cairo of the Egypt-Superleague while shooting 47.4 percent from the field, 38.5 percent from three-point range and 73.3 percent from the free throw line. He also averaged 10.5 points, 3.6 rebounds and 1.3 assists per game in 36 games played (eight starts) for Twarde Pierniki Torun based in Torun, Poland during the 2015-16 season.
Prior to joining the Skyforce, Cummings appeared in 30 total games for the Bakersfield Jam, 19 games for the Westchester Knicks, and 10 games for GlobalPort Batang Pier of the PBA League in which he averaged 28.7 points, 9.8 rebounds and 2.8 assists.
Cummings' first chance to suit up for the Skyforce will come as the team travels to Los Angeles to take on the D-Fenders tonight at 9:30 PM CT. His return to the Sanford Pentagon will take place on Saturday, January 28 as the Skyforce take on the Oklahoma City Blue.
