Sioux Falls Skyforce News Release

SIOUX FALLS, SD - The Sioux Falls Skyforce announced today that they've acquired NBA veteran Alonzo Gee off of waivers. Skyforce rookie Kris Jenkins was waived in completing the transaction.

Gee, a 6-6, 220-pound guard out of the University of Alabama, now joins Tony Mitchell and Jimmie Taylor as the third former Crimson Tide player on this year's Skyforce roster. Gee appeared in 128 games (104 starts) for Alabama over the course of his four-year career, and started in every game from his sophomore season on. As a senior, he averaged career-bests of 15.0 points and 7.2 rebounds per game prior to going undrafted in the 2009 NBA Draft.

Gee began his professional career in the NBA G League during the 2009-10 season while playing for the Austin Spurs. Gee averaged 21.3 points and 6.7 rebounds in 36 games played (35 starts) that season for the Spurs, and earned NBA G League Rookie of the Year honors, an All-NBA G League Second Team selection, and was selected to participate the NBA G League All-Star game.

Gee earned NBA Call-Ups from the Washington Wizards and San Antonio Spurs in March of 2010, and has spent time in the NBA in each of his first eight professional seasons with Washington, San Antonio, the Cleveland Cavaliers, the Portland Trail Blazers, the New Orleans Pelicans, and most recently the Denver Nuggets.

In 417 career NBA games (213 starts), Gee averages 6.6 points and 3.3 rebounds in just under 22 minutes per contest. His most impressive statistical stretch was from 2011-13 with the Cavaliers, where he averaged over 10.3 points and 3.9 rebounds in back-to-back seasons, which included 82 starts in 82 games played during the 2012-13 season.

Gee's first opportunity to suit up for the Skyforce will come on Sunday, December 17 as the Skyforce take on the Iowa Wolves at the Sanford Pentagon.

To purchase tickets for Sunday's game, or any of the remaining home games this season, contact a Skyforce representative at 605-332-0605 or by stopping in the office at 2131 S. Minnesota Ave.
