Short-Handed BayHawks Beaten by Drive

Grand Rapids, MI (February 10) - A last second three-pointer from Gabe York rattled out to give the Grand Rapids Drive the victory tonight, 102-105.

Despite missing starters Anthony Brown and Stephen Zimmerman, and Kalin Lucas off the bench, the BayHawks carried a two-point lead into half. Grand Rapids outshot the BayHawks 51 percent compared to 37 but Erie held the Drive to only 47 attempts in the half. Branden Dawson and York combined for 32 of Erie's 54 points in the frame.

The BayHawks held the Drive to 0-for-17 from three-point range until Grand Rapids made five straight to open the fourth quarter to jump out to their first 10-point lead of the game. The BayHawks battled back to retake the lead with 1:37 to play but Kevin Murphy answered with a go-ahead three-pointer to secure the win for the Drive.

York, Branden Dawson, and TJ Price combined for 69 points in the loss for the BayHawks. York posted 28 points (12-of-29), eight rebounds, and three assists. Dawson had 21 points, 15 rebounds, three assists, and three steals. Price added 20 points with 12 coming in the second half.

Murphy posted a game-high 29 points to go with nine rebounds. Jordan Crawford notched 23 points, six rebounds, and four assists. Michael Gbinije and Henry Elleson each added 15 points for the Drive.

The BayHawks are back Sunday night to take on the Fort Wayne Mad Ants on the road at 5 PM ET. The team returns to Erie Insurance Arena on Saturday, February 25 at 7 PM ET for Family Night presented by Family Services of NW PA. Tickets are available at eriebayhawks.com or by calling 814-790-5600.
