Topeka Pilots News Release

TOPEKA, Kan. - The Topeka RoadRunners announced Sunday that the club has acquired Minot forward Johnny Walker in a North American Hockey League trade that is expected to boost the RoadRunners offensive output.

In exchange, the RoadRunners have sent forward Matt Jennings to Minot.

Walker, a 1996-born right-winger from Phoenix, Ariz., has committed to play Division I hockey for Arizona State University. He is schedule to enroll in the fall of 2017.

"We are excited to add Walker to our roster, and believe he will give us another dimension up front," said Topeka General Manager Joe Clark. "He can do a little bit of everything. We think he'll fit into our dressing room and will be a welcome addition."

Walker, in his third season with Minot, was one of the Minotauros team captains. He had 37 points in 36 games (17 goals, 20 assists), including two goals and an assist in his final game Saturday night, a 6-3 road victory over the Minnesota Magicians. He left Minot as the team's leading scorer.

The 6-0, 190-pound skater is a product of the Culver Military Academy in Indiana, where he played Midget hockey.

The RoadRunners return home to the Kansas ExpoCenter this weekend for a two-game series against NAHL South rival Wichita Falls. Start-time for both Friday and Saturday games are 7:05 p.m.
