Rio Grande Valley Sol News Release
The Rio Grande Sol of the Xtreme Indoor Football League are proud to announce the signing of Indoor Vetrean WR Jasonus Tillery. At 6'1 210 pounds Jasonus has been one of the most electrifying wide receivers in Indoor Football. " Jasonus is one of the top WR in indoor football, we are thrilled to have him coming to the Sol" said GM Bennie King. In 2012 Jasonus was awarded the IFL Offensive Rookie of the Year after catching 84 passes for 1,051 yards and 27 touchdowns. In 2010 while playing for the Wyoming Calvary in the American Indoor Football Association, Jasonus was first team AIFA after finishing the season with 77 receptions for 1,284 and 36 Touchdowns. He continued his dominance on the field by putting on one of the best individual performances in a championship game against the undefeated Baltimore Mariners in AIFA Bowl IV with 7 receptions for 170 yards and 5 Touchdowns. " When he gets it going he can flat out dominate a game and his numbers reflect that" said King.
"I'm excited about playing for the Sol this season I feel the team has a legit chance to win a tittle with a stud at quarterback and a genius calling the offense " said Tillery. "Bennie knows the game so I know he will have everything in order and everyone on the same page". My goal and only goal on the field is to win a title. I started playing football in a league with X-league commissioner Mike Mink and it's how I plan on ending it but with a championship. Behind all the stats my past teammates have helped me achieve is a burning desire to win the one thing that has avoided me a ring. I'm looking forward to training camp and the team competing for a championship.
"Adding a guy like this raises the bar, Sol fans will enjoy the competitive nature and ability Jasonus will bring to our ballclub" said King.
Tillery attended Kean College where he set their single-season record with 912 receiving yards. He also established a single-game record with 185 receiving yards on 10 grabs in a 21-10 loss to Western Connecticut. In nine games, he made 41 catches for a 22.2- yard average, five touchdowns and 101.3 yards per game. He also returned 13 punts for 112 yards and a touchdown and took back three kickoffs for 38 yards.
After college Tillery participated in mini camp with the Kansas City Chiefs and Miami Dolphins. In 2005 Jasonus signed a contract with the Saskatchewan Rough Riders of the Canadian Football League. In 2011 Jasonus was with the Kansas City Command in the Arena Football League.
