Nets Second Half Surge Drops BayHawks

Erie, PA (January 27) - The Erie BayHawks (7-20) were downed by a strong second half from the Long Island Nets (11-18) tonight, 96-110.

Stephen Zimmerman started the game with six straight points as the BayHawks and Nets traded baskets for much of the first quarter. Erie went ahead by ten with a nine-to-two run to open the second but closed the quarter leading by only five as a result of 25 percent shooting from the line.

R.J. Hunter scored nine of a 12-point Nets run to put Long Island in front by as many as 16 in the third quarter. The BayHawks answered with consecutive three-pointers to close the Nets' lead to 10 at the quarter break. The BayHawks fell behind by 17 with 3:41 to play to seal the victory for the Nets.

Nine of ten BayHawks players scored with Kalin Lucas leading the way on 18 points and six assists. Alex Davis and Cliff Alexander each posted 12 points. Davis grabbed seven rebounds while Alexander added five. Branden Dawson had 13 points off the bench.

Hunter paced the Nets with a game-high 25 points on four-of-nine from the behind the three-point line. Lazar Hayward added 22 points and nine rebounds. Egidijus Mockevicius had a double-double of 15 points and 18 rebounds.
