MLL Streamlines Operations Through Teamworks Mobile Application

May 17, 2016 - Major League Lacrosse (MLL) News Release

DURHAM, NC - Teamworks, the industry leader of mobile collaboration and communication software for athletic organizations, is happy to announce a new partnership with Major League Lacrosse (MLL), the premier professional lacrosse league.

As the League's Official Collaboration Software Provider, Teamworks will centralize player and staff information for the front office and all nine teams, as well as modernize MLL's internal communication approaches. The app's expansion into professional lacrosse reflects a larger movement across all sports, as more organizations adapt to millennial players' heavy reliance upon mobile devices, and highlights Teamworks' position as the go-to solution for teams and organizations looking to increase internal efficiency.

"For 15 years, we have implemented many different dynamics to the game of lacrosse that have helped bring our sport into this modern age, but our commitment to remain agile extends beyond the field of play," said David Gross, Major League Lacrosse Commissioner. "We are pleased to invest in a communication platform that offers us returns by keeping the league office more directly connected with our players, coaches and staff as we continue to develop the game of lacrosse."

"Teamworks caters to the 'next generation' players, or players that are familiar with traveling regularly, and constantly checking their phones," said Colin Keane, MLL Lacrosse Operations Manager. "From rule changes like the addition of a two-point goal line and a 60-second clock, we always look to be responsive and find new ways to keep the game fun and competitive. We are equally receptive to the changing culture away from field as we are in tune to what's happening on it. By adopting Teamworks, we are providing today's players the ability to communicate effectively with their teammates, coaching staff, and front office. "

Through Teamworks, Major League Lacrosse will effectively run a paperless operation, collaborate more easily and reach millennial players on their preferred medium of communication: the smartphone. The messaging module will enable staff and coaches to schedule or immediately send mass or one-to-one text, email, voice or push notifications for schedule changes, wake-up calls, appointment reminders and more. The League will also be able to share information instantly, allowing players and staff to view a live schedule, access important documents, complete and file necessary forms from the convenience of their mobile phone. Available online and as iOS or Android applications, Teamworks' offerings have been tailored to MLL's daily operation.

Having solidified its position as the premier communication solution for collegiate athletic programs, Teamworks continues to expand its functionality and apply its platform to professional sports and other athletic organizations. Teamworks has become a fixture of student-athletes' daily life, working with more than 300 NCAA Division I teams as well as many prestigious athletic departments. In men's lacrosse, many championship level programs including Duke, Syracuse, Maryland, Virginia, Boston, Providence and Marquette utilize Teamworks. Teams, coaches, staff and front offices across all professional sports are increasingly quick to adopt the software many of their players have already become accustomed. Teamworks announced its first partnerships in Major League Baseball earlier this year, launching new affiliations with the San Francisco Giants and Washington Nationals. In the National Football League, Teamworks has already established relationships with the San Francisco 49ers and Arizona Cardinals. Outside of the traditional team environment, many athletic-related businesses already deploy Teamworks including the NCAA, Big Ten Conference, Mountain West Conference and adidas Team Sales.

"Major League Lacrosse is on the frontier of innovation and one of the most adept organizations in understanding its players and sport's appeal, as evident by their year-on-year attendance increase and aggressive expansion initiative," said Zach Maurides, Teamworks Founder and President. "We are excited to work with MLL, an operation so conscious to its marketplace and in touch with its players' conventions, as they continue to expand and appeal to a younger generation of players and fans."
