MITCHELL LEADS SKYFORCE'S COMEBACK WIN OVER DRIVE

November 24, 2017 - NBA G League (G League)
Grand Rapids Drive News Release

GRAND RAPIDS - Tony Mitchell scored 23 of his game-high 33 points in the fourth quarter to help the Sioux Falls Skyforce (4-4) overcome an eight-point deficit heading into the final quarter and win by a 121-116 final over the Grand Rapids Drive (4-6).

The Skyforce trailed by as much as 14 late in the third, but got back within single digits by the end of the third and then shut down the Drive in the fourth quarter to hand them their sixth loss in a row. Sioux Falls outscored Grand Rapids 33-20 in the final frame after the Drive put up 76 combined points in the previous two quarters.

In addition to Mitchell's 33, Derrick Walton Jr. had 23 points and 10 rebounds for Sioux Falls, who saw all five starters score in double figures. Rodney Pryor had the other double-double in addition to Waltons, providing 12 points and 10 rebounds. Mitchell had more points in the fourth quarter than any Drive player had in the entire game.

Jamel Morris led the Drive in scoring for the first time this season as he had 21 points, five rebounds and four steals. Landry Nnoko put up 19 points, 10 rebounds and four assists and Dwight Buycks chipped in 17 as well. Zeke Upshaw hit four three-pointers off the bench in the second quarter alone and finished with 15 points to lead all bench players.

Grand Rapids scored 41 points in that second quarter, the most they have scored in any quarter this season, but they failed to reach that total in the first and fourth quarters combined. Their 39 percent shooting from deep and 90 percent from the free throw line were both impressive numbers that the Skyforce couldn't equal, but Sioux Falls dominated scoring in the paint well enough to make up for those discrepancies.

After snapping a three-game losing streak, the Skyforce will now head back home and play the Erie BayHawks on Monday. The Drive's next opportunity to get back in the win column will be against Raptors 905 on Sunday.
