Milwaukee Signs Four OL/DL's and Two WR/DB's

MILWAUKEE - The Milwaukee Iron of the Arena Football League announced that they have signed six players to their 2010 roster. The players include linemen Gregory Brown from Indiana, Jeffrey Niedermier from Buffalo, William Thompson from Georgia and Scott Witte from UW-River Falls. The Iron also added wide receiver/defensive backs Tracy Belton from Massachusetts and Desmond Tardy from Purdue.

Gregory Brown, OL/DL, 6'3", 308, Indiana

Brown comes to the Iron after playing his entire collegiate career with Indiana University. After red shirting his freshman season, Brown went on to start in 40 games and made an appearance in an additional eight games for the Hoosiers from 2004 to 2008. In his time with IU, Brown made 146 tackles, 90 of which were solo, five sacks and 17.5 tackles for loss. In 2009, Brown attended mini camp with the Chicago Bears.

Jeffrey Niedermier, OL/DL, 6'3", 315, Buffalo

Niedermier comes to Milwaukee after a standout career at the University of Buffalo. As a senior in 2008, Niedermier was named All-MAC Second-Team after starting 12 games at right guard. He was a key part of an offensive line that helped set the way for a Division I-A record 362 points. In 2007 Niedermier was named Third-Team All-MAC.

William Thompson, OL/DL, 6'3", 255, Georgia

Thompson comes to the Iron after a successful career as a defensive end at the University of Georgia where he helped the Bulldogs win two SEC Championships. After graduating, Thompson signed as an undrafted free agent by the New York Jets in 2005. After being released, Thompson began his career in the AFL with the Las Vegas Gladiators in 2006. In 2008, Thompson spent the season with his hometown Georgia Force.

Scott Witte, OL/DL, 6'6", 315, UW-River Falls

Witte joins the Iron after a successful career at the University of Wisconsin-River Falls where he played center and was named All-WIAC in his final three seasons. The Cedarburg, WI native attended mini camp with the Green Bay Packers in 2009.

Tracy Belton, WR/DB, 6'0", 175, UMass

Belton signs with the Iron after being named an All-af2 defensive back with the Green Bay Blizzard in 2009. In 2008 with Arkansas, he led the team and ranked among league leaders with 34 passes defensed and six interceptions. Prior to his af2 career, Belton played for the University of Massachusetts where he was an Atlantic 10 First-Team defensive back.

Desmond Tardy, WR/DB, 6'0", 195, Purdue

Tardy comes to the Iron after being named All-Big 10 honorable mention in 2008 with Purdue University. Tardy spent his entire collegiate career with the Boilermakers after being rated as the 27th best athlete in the country coming out of high school in 2003 by Rivals.com. In addition, he was also named by the Indianapolis Star as Indiana's Mr. Football in 2003.

Other moves: The Milwaukee Iron have made two additional moves today by designating quarterback Anthony Morelli and wide receiver/defensive back Perry Kyles for reassignment.
