Late Maine Triple Sinks Charge

MISSISSAUGA, Ontario- An Abdel Nader three-pointer with 22.2 seconds left was the difference as the Maine Red Claws (17-9) defeated the Canton Charge (13-11), 122-117, on Thursday at the 2017 NBA Development League Showcase.

With the Red Claws up 115-108 and 2:52 left in the game, Canton went on a 7-0 run by forcing four straight misses on the defensive end to knot the game at 115-115. On the ensuing possession, Nader knocked down the go-ahead 25-footer from the corner off an inbounds pass.

John Holland missed the game-tying attempt on the other end for the Charge, and the Red Claws hit all four free throw attempts in the final 14.4 seconds to put the game away. Nader's final triple gave Maine 21 three-pointers in the game on 39 attempts (54 percent). He finished with a game-high 29 points on 6-of-10 from the three-point line to go with five rebounds and seven assists in 35 minutes of action.

Leading the way for Canton's new franchise record for blocks in a game (15), Eric Moreland finished with seven rejections to go along with a double-double of 22 points and 11 rebounds in 37 minutes. Holland scored a team-high 28 points on 11-of-17 shooting in 39 minutes of play and Quinn Cook netted 27 points on 12-of-22 shooting to go with eight assists in 44 minutes for Canton. Jonathan Holmes added a double-double of 18 points and 10 boards in 27 minutes off the bench.

Maine's Marcus Georges-Hunt added 23 points on 5-of-7 from three-point range in 38 minutes. Jalen Jones had 18 points, 10 rebounds, six assists and two steals in 37 minutes. Demetrius Jackson rounded out the Red Claws' double-digit scorers with 18 points to go with five boards and three steals in 36 minutes.

Canton finishes their Showcase against the Westchester Knicks on Sunday, Jan. 22 at 10 a.m. ET on NBA TV, while Maine will face the Fort Wayne Mad Ants on Saturday, Jan. 21 at 12:30 p.m. ET on NBA TV.
