Ogden Knights News Release

The 2009 is the inaugural season of the Ogden Knights. The team was founded by Michael Mink and John Morris. Michael is head coach and president of the Knights. The team will play it's first season at the Golden Spike Events Center in Ogden, Utah. The GSEC will seat approximately 6,800 enthusiastic indoor football fans.

The Knights will rely on local talent from Weber State, Utah State and the University of Utah. This first season looks to be a remarkable journey as these young Knights as they face the Western Conference champions, Wyoming Calvary, the extremely talented New Mexico Wildcats, and the new in state rival, Utah Valley Thunder.

The Ogden Knights Organization is big on community involvement, and is excited to bring affordable family entertainment to Northern Utah. The teams' recent meet-and-greet dinner was sold out as the teams players were "Knighted" in front of the first Knights' sponsors and fans.

The team will feature the Lady Knight dance team at all home games along with a host of games and entertainment for all ages.

GAME OVERVIEW This will be the first meeting between rivals Utah Valley Thunder and the Ogden Knights. The war on I-15 will officially begin this Saturday night at the Golden Spike Event Center. Last weekends loss to defending Western Conference Champion, Wyoming, has sent the Knights back to the drawing board.

This week the Knights are pleased to announce the signing of University of Utah's Corey Seiuli. Seiuli was the starting offensive guard for the 2009 Sugar Bowl Championship team. At 6'3, 325 lbs., Corey will start at the left guard position for the Knights. "Anytime you can get a player of this caliber from a program like the U, it will motivate your players and fans. We are excited to have Corey on the Offensive line and look to add more players of his caliber in the near future." said Head Coach Michael Mink.

With a record of 2-1, the Utah Valley Thunder are the upstart team in the Western Division this season. On Monday night the Thunder had a 28 point thrilling come back victory over the New Mexico Wildcats. The Thunder are very quick, offensively, and posses one of the leagues best pass rushers in BYU's Chris Bolden.

The Knights are continuing to look for an offensive leader at the quarterback position and should be at full strength this weekend with the return of wide out Maurice Bryant. The Knights expect to pick up the pace Saturday night and deliver the home crowd the victory it needs. GO KNIGHTS!
