Huntington Hammer News Release

The Ultimate Indoor Football League has released its first ever "Players of the Week" and the Huntington Hammer is proud to announce that the UIFL DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK for week one is KEVIN ALLEN JR. "Kevin was a big part of the Hammer victory in their first game and we are glad to see that the rest of the league noticed," said Head Coach Josh Resignalo. Defensive Coordinator Michael Owens said, "we already knew that Kevin had the ability to be a game changer. He is a great kid with loads of talent and is a real team player. Given the opportunity to play, we knew that people would soon see the skills that Kevin posses. It's not a surprise to me that he is being honored, but I'm really excited for him and for the team."

The official scorebook reads that Kevin Allen Jr. had two interceptions both returned for touchdowns, but those at the game know that there were actually three times that number 5 snatched one out of the air and scampered into the end zone. Adding to that were several batted balls and 4 tackles, one behind the line of scrimmage. The Huntington Hammer won their first game 41-26 over the Canton Cougars.

The Huntington Hammer travels to Pikeville, Kentucky to face the Eastern Kentucky Drillers on Friday the 25th at 7:30pm. The Hammer are hoping to have several fans that will be making the trip to help bring what Coach Res is calling "the X-Factor" to the Eastern Kentucky Expo Center.
