IFL Announces 2009 Alignment

Laurel, MD (November 11, 2008) - The Indoor Football League (IFL) announced its conference and divisional alignments for the 2009 season. The Maryland Maniacs, who will call Show Place Arena in Upper Marlboro, Maryland home, are members of the United Conference's Atlantic Division, where they will square-off against the Bloomington Extreme, Muskegon Thunder, Rochester Raiders, and Saginaw Sting.

Filling out the United Conference is the Central Division which includes the Omaha Beef, River City Rage, Sioux City Bandits, Sioux Falls Storm, and Wichita Wild. The Intense Conference is broken into two divisions (Lone Star and Pacific). The Lone Star Division includes the Abilene Ruff Riders, Corpus Christi Hammerheads, El Paso Generals, Odessa Roughnecks, San Angelo Stampede Express, and Frisco Thunder. The Pacific Division includes the Alaska Wild, Billings Outlaws, Colorado Ice, Everett Destroyers, and Fairbanks Grizzlies.

In the Atlantic Division the Maniacs will face tough competition. The Rochester Raiders will be entering their fourth season of play, having compiled a 34-7 overall record and earning a Continental Indoor Football League (CIFL) championship in 2007. The Bloomington Extreme will also be taking the field for their fourth season having totaled an overall record of 22-26, including a United Indoor Football (UIF) conference championship in 2008. The Saginaw Sting won the CIFL championship, as an expansion team last season, and tallied a 13-2 record. The Muskegon Thunder will take the field for their third season in 2009 after posting a 9-17 career record.

"We are very excited to see the league take shape and know who our division opponents will be," stated Maniacs' General Manager John Wolfe, "there is a lot of talent in our division and the entire league, which should add up to some exciting games at Show Place this season."
