Omaha Storm Chasers News Release

DES MOINES - Rey Fuentes *had 3 hits and 3 RBIs, and the Chasers scored in each of the first 5 innings, but the Cubs overturned an early Omaha lead and beat the Chasers 6-5 on Friday night at Principal Park.

The Chasers struck for an immediate run in the 1st inning, as *Orlando Calixte* led off with a walk, and Fuentes tripled him home.

Fuentes made it 2-0 in the top of the 2nd, as he singled to score *Dusty Coleman* from 2nd base. Coleman had begun a 2-out rally with a walk, and had advanced to 2nd on a single by *Orlando Calixte*.

Jeimer Candelario immediately cut it to 2-1 with a leadoff home run in the bottom of the 2nd against Chasers starter *Jake Junis*.

The Chasers gained that run back in the top of the 3rd. *Hunter Dozier* doubled, and scored on a single by *Jorge Bonifacio*.

Omaha extended the lead to 4-1 in the 4th. *Dusty Coleman* doubled, *Orlando Calixte* singled, and *Rey Fuentes* drove in his 3rd run of the game with another base hit.

Cubs starter Jordan Pries was pulled after 4 innings; he allowed 4 runs on 9 hits, with 3 strikeouts and 3 walks.

Iowa made sure he didn't factor in the decision, however, by turning the game around in the bottom of the 4th inning. Chris Coghlan singled, Juan Perez singled, and Jeimer Candelario doubled home 2 runs. Tommy La Stella singled, and Tim Federowicz also singled, tying the game. Logan Watkins then hit into a double play, but La Stella scored, putting the Cubs ahead 5-4.

Jake Junis also pitched 4 innings, yielding 5 runs, 7 hits, and no walks. He struck out 4.

Omaha scored in their 5th consecutive inning, tying the game in the 5th. With 1 out, *Jorge Bonifacio* walked, and with 2 out, *Balbino Fuenmayor* doubled to right field, bringing Bonifacio around and making it 5-5.

*Nick Tepesch *(L, 8-4) entered the game in the bottom of the 5th for the Chasers; he worked a scoreless frame, but was then touched for a run in the bottom of the 6th.

Jeimer Candelario was again the instigator, doubling to begin the inning. He went to 3rd on a fly ball, and scored on a soft single to center by Tim Federowicz, giving Iowa the 6-5 lead.

*Luke Farrell *pitched 2 scoreless innings, keeping the Chasers within a run. But they couldn't generate a rally against the Cubs bullpen.

Armando Rivero (W, 5-3) was the winning pitcher for Iowa, despite allowing a run in 2 innings of relief. Pierce Johnson retired all 6 Chasers hitters in the 7th and 8th, and Jose Rosario pitched the 9th for his 4th save of the season.

Omaha loaded the bases against Rosario, but he induced *Hunter Dozier* to bounce into a game-ending double play, as the Chasers fell just short.

The Chasers will continue their series in Iowa tomorrow night. Omaha's starter has not been announced, while Iowa's will send RHP Jake Buchanan (11-8, 4.53) to the mound. First pitch will be at 7:05.
