Fourth-Quarter Run Sparks Drive over Sevens

NEWARK - November 29, 2016 - Trailing by one entering the fourth quarter, the Grand Rapids Drive (4-3) scored the first 15 points of the final quarter to help defeat the Delaware 87ers (2-4) by a score of 118-104 on Tuesday night.

The Drive managed a whopping 42 points in the fourth quarter despite scoring just 18 in the second quarter. They had a season-high 75 points in the second half.

Jordan Crawford lit it up off the bench for the Drive with 28 points, Kevin Murphy had 25 with eight rebounds and Ray McCallum had 23. Chris Anderson registered his second double-double in as many games with 15 points and 11 rebounds.

Anderson and Chris Horton combined for 12 offensive rebounds, double the amount Delaware had as a team.

For the 87ers, Cat Barber led the way with 22 points and seven boards, and Lorrenzo Wade had 15 points, five rebounds and four assists off the bench.

The game was incredibly tight until the Drive's big run throughout the fourth quarter. The Drive had a five-point advantage after one quarter that was erased and made into a three-point halftime deficit by the Sevens.

They maintained this lead for nearly the entirety of the third quarter, but altogether the lead changed hands 18 times and the game was tied nine times. The Sevens were never able to stretch the margin larger than four points.

Another key for the Drive outside of the offensive rebounds was their free-throw attempt rate and percentage. They made 25 of 30 attempts for a new season high in free-throw percentage. Delaware was efficient from the field, going 41-of-84, but they were out-rebounded by the Drive 48-39 and committed 17 turnovers.

The Drive's next game comes when they return home to play the Windy City Bulls on Dec. 2. The following game after that is the Sevens' next game, when Delaware heads to Grand Rapids on Dec. 4.
