Edmonton Elks News Release
(Edmonton) - The Edmonton Eskimos thank offensive lineman Brian Ramsay for his contributions to the team over the last five seasons and wish him well in his new full-time role with the CFLPA.
The native of Vancouver, British Columbia entered the league in 2006 after his selection in the CFL Draft by the Toronto Argonauts. He later joined the Hamilton-Tiger-Cats for the 2010 season. Ramsay spent the last five seasons on the Eskimos offensive line. He played 139 career games and was a member of the Eskimos 103rd Grey Cup championship team.
Last month, he retired as a player and was hired as the executive director of the CFLPA.
Quote from Eskimos Vice President of Football Operations and General Manager Ed Hervey
Brian's role in the locker room was instrumental throughout his time in Edmonton. He is a consummate professional and a true leader, on and off the field. On behalf of the Edmonton Eskimos, I wish Brian and his family the very best in this next chapter of his career.
Quote from CFLPA Executive Director Brian Ramsay
I would like to thank Ed Hervey, Len Rhodes and the entire Edmonton Eskimo organization for what has been an incredible journey for my family and I. The relationships built while playing this great game will last long past the time on the field as a player. In addition, a special thank you to the City of Edmonton and its fans, as passionate and dedicated as any in this great league.
Being fortunate to play this game for a long time is not something you can ever do alone. With that, I need to thank my teammates over the years for allowing me to be able to compete with them. Lastly I would like to thank my family for their endless support and continuing to chase this dream with me. Always having someone in your corner as you go through the highs and lows is something I am eternally grateful for.
It has been a privilege to play this game and I look forward to watching as a fan for years to come.
