SPOKANE, Washington - The Empire has re-signed running back Trevor Kennedy and added a pair of rookies in offensive lineman Mikingson Marsaille and defensive lineman Junior Alexis.

Kennedy (RB, 6-0, 205, Mercyhurst) rejoins the Empire for his second season as a member of the IFL after earning Offensive Rookie of the Year honors in 2016. Despite missing the final three games of the regular season due to injury, Trevor finished his rookie campaign leading the IFL in rushing yards (720), rushing touchdowns (28), and total points scored (236). He also added 35 receptions for 273 yards and nine touchdowns, plus finished third in the league in all-purpose yards with 1,613.

Trevor joined the Empire in 2016 after participating in the team's open tryout at The Chamber in Miami, Florida. Before joining the IFL he Kennedy spent time with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers of the Canadian Football League, the NFL's Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Green Bay Packers.

During his collegiate career at Mercyhurst University (PA), he finished second all-time in receptions (194), receiving yards (2,758), and all-purpose yards (4,249). He also tied the school's career receiving touchdown record (28) and holds the record for all-purpose yards per game, averaging 118 per game over 36 career games.

In 2011, he led all of Division II in receiving yards per game, averaging 126.3 yards per contest. He set Mercyhurst single-season records for receptions (88), receiving yards (1,389), receiving touchdowns (15), and all-purpose yards (2,232). He held the previous records for receptions (75) and touchdowns (11), which he set during the PSAC Championship year of 2010.

Marsaille (OL, 6-6, 345, Florida Atlantic) joins the Empire for his rookie season as a member of the IFL after completing his final collegiate season at FAU in 2015. As an Owl, Mikingson ended his collegiate career as a Conference-USA Honorable Mention selection and was a starter at left guard his final two seasons. During his sophomore campaign in 2013, he started two games before suffering a season-ending injury. Marsaille played his prep career at Fort Pierce Central High School in Fort Pierce, Florida.

Alexis (DL, 6-2, 315, Portland State) joins the Empire for his rookie season as a member of the IFL. After spending his redshirt season at the University of Miami (FL), Junior transferred to Portland State University. He went on to see action in 41 games and recorded 110 total tackles (56 solos), 13.5 tackles for loss, one pass break-up, and one forced fumble. Junior played his prep career at Crenshaw High School in Los Angeles, California.

Additional Transactions (2/7/17): The Empire released Andrew Pierce (RB, 5-9, 210, Deleware) and Benjamin Perry (DL, 6-5, 280, Minnesota). Cassidy Curtis (OL6-4, 310, Eastern Washington) has been placed on the Refuse to Report List.

The Empire kick off their 2017 IFL season at Spokane Veterans Memorial Arena on Thursday, February 23 with a 7:00 p.m. PT kickoff against the Green Bay Blizzard.
