GRAND RAPIDS, MICHIGAN (Dec 11, 2017) - The Grand Rapids Drive, the official NBA G League affiliate of the Detroit Pistons, announced today that the team has activated returning player Marcus Simmons.
Simmons, the 6-foot-6, 220-pound guard joined the Grand Rapids Drive (Jan 15, 2017) during the 2016-17 season from the available player pool. While with the Drive, he appeared in 25 games averaging 5.4 points, 3.4 rebounds, and 1.1 assists per game. Prior to the Drive, Simmons spent time playing overseas and in the NBA G-League. Simmons attended the University of Southern California (2007-2011) where he averaged 3.1 points, 2 rebounds, 0.9 assists in 105 games (46 starts) in four years and was the Pac-10 Defensive Player of the Year and made the All-Defensive Team.
Simmons returns for the 2017-18 season and while with the Drive will wear jersey number 6.
The Drive have waived Wesley Da Silva and in the teams previous activation of Jon Horford, the team waived Chris Anderson.
The Drive's next home game is Friday, December 15 at 7 PM (ET) when they host the Delaware 87ers. Friday's game will be a "Blue Out" presented by Grand Valley State University where the team will be wearing their road blue jerseys in front of the home crowds. Tickets are free for Grand Valley students, faculty and staff members with a current university ID. Tickets vouchers are available at the 20/20 Desk in the Kirkhof Center or at the DeltaPlex Arena box office on game day.
