Grand Rapids Drive News Release
GRAND RAPIDS, MICH - Oct 28, 2016 - The Grand Rapids Drive, the official NBA Development League Affiliate of the Detroit Pistons, announced today that the team will kick off their pre-season with an open practice FREE to all fans on Nov. 3 from 6:30 - 7:30 PM at the DeltaPlex Arena.
"We want to have our team and our individual players ready for a successful season," stated newly appointed Head Coach Rex Walters. "Developing the player's skill set is crucial in giving the Drive the best chance of winning a championship."
The practice will not only give a sneak peek at this year's team, but will also give fans a behind-the-scenes look at the competitiveness of training camp. Following the practice, fans will be given an exclusive opportunity to meet the players and coaches.
"This is a unique opportunity for our fans in West Michigan to get an up close look at what an NBA practice looks like," said President of Business Operations Wes Weir. "It will also give Drive fans a glimpse at this season's roster and a chance to meet our players and coaching staff."
Fans in attendance will have the option to participate in contests that include ticket giveaways and discounts on merchandise. There will also be special appearances made by Buckets the mascot and the 2016-17 Drive Dance Team. It will be an evening that will provide fun for the whole family.
The Drive tips off the 2016-17 season on Nov. 11 at 7:00 PM by hosting the Canton Charge (Cleveland Cavaliers Affiliate) at the DeltaPlex Arena. Doors open at 6 PM.
