Manchester Wolves News Release
MANCHESTER, NH-- Deshon Stovall, who was part of the Manchester Wolves playoff teams of the past several seasons, has rejoined the team and will start at linebacker on Friday night when the Wolves line up against the Albany Firebirds in an important arenafootball2 league East Division tilt at the Verizon Wireless Arena.
Stovall (6'1, 314) is a four-year af2 veteran and he provides leadership and experience to a Wolves team that is 4-5 at this critical juncture of the regular season. He is one of several changes to the starting line-up made this week by Head Coach Danton Barto with the intent of providing a spark to the Wolves.
Another new face on the defense is lineman Tyler King (6'6, 270) who spent time on the practice squads of the NFL Arizona Cardinals, St. Louis Rams, and San Diego Chargers and was a standout collegiate player at the University of Connecticut. King is the son of former New England Patriots stellar linebacker Steve King, who played for the Pats from 1973-81.
Earlier in the week, Barto traded veteran quarterback James Pinkney, who had taken every snap all season, to the Tennessee Valley Vipers and brought back rookie Mike Potts to run the offense. Potts will be playing in his first af2 game this week although he spent all of last summer in training camp with the Super Bowl Champion Pittsburgh Stelers
Rookie TJ Williams will make his first start at defensive back and veteran Dwan Wilson, who has been sidelined most of the year with a recurring foot injury, will be back at linebacker in the revamped and revitalized defense.
Kick off for the game against the Firebirds (3-6) on The Acting Loft Field is 7:30 PM and there are tickets remaining for this game and for the next home game against the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Pioneers (8-1), the arch rivals of the Wolves, on Thursday, June 5th.
