Trenton Freedom News Release
TRENTON, N.J. - Dave Leno, who has appeared on the Big Ten Network, ESPN, Comcast Sports Southeast and USOpen.org Radio has been named Voice of the Trenton Freedom.
Leno will call the play-by-play for all 12 Freedom games on AM 920 (The Voice) and will also host the team's weekly Thursday evening (5:30-6:30) Coach's Show, which will alternate between the Continental Tavern in Yardley, Pa., and Villa Romanza in Hamilton.
"It's such an honor to be the inaugural radio voice of the Freedom,'' said Leno. "I take a lot of pride in my play by play and will paint a detailed picture for our listeners. Fans can expect descriptive, smooth calls coupled with enthusiasm and personality.
"I'm so grateful for the opportunity and looking forward to not only calling every game but also hosting our action-packed Coach's Shows."
Leno's recent on-air assignments have allowed him to call nationally televised AAC, ACC, Big Ten and Big East games. For the past two seasons, he announced the Sun Belt Conference Volleyball Championship in Kentucky and Alabama. His broadcasting was featured live on ESPN's SportsCenter during the wild finish of the Texas Southern vs. Temple basketball game in December.
He joined USOpen.org Radio, also simulcast on SiriusXM, for the 2013 Grand tennis event, broadcasting all three doubles championships and providing live updates and interviews.
Leno's prior on-air duties included traveling the country with several Indiana University Athletics teams, highlighted by a NCAA Sweet 16 broadcast with volleyball and a NCAA regional with softball; Camden Riversharks baseball; Trenton Titans hockey; WTIU-TV, a PBS-affiliate in South Central Indiana; and Action Indiana Sports.
In addition, Leno has garnered two Society of Professional Journalists awards for his announcing. He's a proud graduate of Indiana University-Bloomington and its journalismschool.
He will be joined in the Freedom booth by Mike Samsel, who is heard as the voice of West Chester University Athletics and WBCB (AM1490).
The Freedom will open their inaugural PIFL season at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 30, hosting the Richmond Raiders. Both season and single-game tickets are available by calling 1-800-521-FREE (3733) or by going to http://www.trentonfreedom.com/tickets.html.
