Moosic, PA (June 19, 2017) - The Syracuse Chiefs fell to the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders, 6-1, Monday night PNC Field. Emmanuel Burriss picked up an RBI single for the Chiefs in the loss.

Scranton/Wilkes-Barre (42-26) started the scoring in the first. Dustin Fowler doubled with one out against Greg Ross. Fowler then stole third with one out, and scored when Jhonatan Solano's throw bounced into left field for an error.

The RailRiders added a run in the second. Clint Frazier tripled to start the inning and then got caught in a rundown on a sharp ground ball hit by Miguel Andujar back to the mound. Frazier was eventually tagged out but Andujar reached second base during the rundown. After Jake Cave singled Andujar to third, Donovan Solano singled the run home to push the lead to 2-0.

Syracuse (21-45) cut the lead to one in the fifth. Adrian Sanchez doubled to start the inning against Brady Lail, and after two pop outs, Burriss singled home Sanchez to bring the score to 2-1.

But the RailRiders would quickly answer. Fowler drilled a two-out, two-run home run over the wall in right. His 11th home run of the season stretch the lead to 4-1. Cave would hit the RailRiders second home run on the night in the eighth off Trevor Gott to cap the scoring at 6-1.

The Chiefs and RailRiders will play a doubleheader Tuesday, with first pitch of game one slated for 5:05 p.m. Edwin Jackson will make his Chiefs season debut in game one against Bryan Mitchell. In game two, Taylor Hill will make his first start since returning from Double-A against Joe Mantiply.
