INDIANAPOLIS - Indy's biggest sports stars take the field for a cause on Thursday, June 15, 2017, for the 9th Annual Caroline Symmes Memorial Celebrity Softball Challenge presented by the Indianapolis Colts and Indiana Pacers. The event benefits Indiana Children's Wish Fund, with Indy celebrities taking over downtown Victory Field and raising funds to help Indiana Children's Wish Fund grant wishes to Indiana children, ages 3 -18, who suffer from life-threatening illnesses.
Headlining this year's Celebrity Softball Challenge are Indianapolis Colts legends Robert Mathis and Pat McAfee, plus current Colts All-Pro wide receiver TY Hilton and Indiana Pacers All-Star swingman Paul George. Pacers center Myles Turner will also be in the line-up, with more Indy sports stars still to be announced.
The Celebrity Softball Challenge is in memory of Caroline Symmes, a Wish child who was involved with the inaugural event and passed away in December 2009.
"This is an amazing event, bringing together celebrities, Wish children and our community," says L.G. Edwards, board president of Indiana Children's Wish Fund. "Fans have the opportunity to see their favorite celebrities up close, get autographs and enjoy a fun time with their families."
Tickets are $10 and go on sale to the public beginning May 1. Children 3 and under get in free. First pitch is scheduled for 7 p.m., with the Victory Field gates open at 5:30 p.m.
"The Indians and Victory Field are thrilled to once again host this year's Celebrity Softball Challenge," said Randy Lewandowski, president and GM of the Indianapolis Indians. "It's fun for fans to watch their hometown sports heroes play a game that takes them out of their natural element, while they also raise funds to grant wishes to deserving Wish children and their families."
To purchase tickets, call the Victory Field Box Office 317-269-3545 or visit IndyIndians.com/celebritysoftball. For more information about the Indiana Children's Wish Fund, go to indywish.org.
